The commitment to support positive outcomes for African American and Black students in Merced County is deeply anchored in the realization that change begins with understanding the system and a drive to take action.

Our journey to better understand the system began with an effort to answer a key question posed by nearly all of the CAASS membership. The question was: how well are our African American and Black students doing in Merced County schools?

The California Department of Education provides the CalSCHLS system and public data dashboards with high quality data to support efforts of student academic performance, social-emotional, behavioral, and physical health of all youth.
